Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. The actress disclosed the sad news in an emotional statement shared on her Instagram page on Monday, October 19, revealing that her mother died on October 18 after a long battle with illness. Adunni, who is known for her roles in both Yoruba and English-language films, began her announcement with the Islamic declaration, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” meaning “Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.” Expressing her acceptance of the will of Almighty Allah, the actress wrote, “With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator on October 18 after a long battle with illness.” She noted that her late mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones, who will continue to cherish her memory. The filmmaker also offered prayers for her mother's soul, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings, show her mercy and grant her eternal peace in paradise. “Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Grant us sabr and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen,” she prayed. Adunni further expressed her love for her late mother, writing, “Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.” The actress added that details of the funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
