Nwoko Condoles Families Of Slain Farmers
The former member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and Delta North Senatorial aspirant, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko, has condoled the families of five farmers killed by Fulani herdsmen in Ossissa, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, last Thursday.
Nwoko, in a condolence statement, decried the nefarious activities of herdsmen and promised to lead activism to stop the menace.
He noted that the people were generous and accommodative, adding that their natural disposition should not be mistaken for weakness.
According to him, Delta State Government had taking steps to check the increasing menace, but more needed to be done to guarantee the safety of farmers in the bush.
Nwoko reiterated his resolve to champion the course of the Delta North people, stressing that the death of the victims will not be in vain.
“Their death should be seen as a sacrifice that will open up a platform of negotiations and policies to guarantee safety of our people farming for survival”, he stated.
“These farmers/victims are bread winners. Their dependants will suffer as s result of their deaths. Steps must be taking to help them overcome the loss and guarantee others of their safety”, he contended.
The Delta North Senatorial aspirant called on the Federal Government to listen to the cry of farmers in Delta North and make pronouncements on curbing farmers/herdsmen clashes.
He also called on security agencies to be proactive in confronting incidents of such clashes so as to nip in the bud, situations that could lead to loss of lives.
