GLO CAF Awards 2015: Pierre Eric Aubameyang Named African Player Of The Year

Gabon and Borussia Dortmund forward, Pierre Eric Aubameyang was announced the 2015 African Player of the Year at the just concluded Glo-CAF awards ceremony held in Abuja, Nigeria.

Aubameyang emerged as winner, thanks to votes from head coaches/technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF.

The 26-year-old clinched the most coveted prize beating Manchester City’s Ivorian midfield enforcer, Yaya Toure, winner of the last award for the last four years running, and Ghana’s Andre Ayew.

Despite failing to win a major trophy with Dortmund, Aubameyang benefited from his excellent performance through the year.

The classy striker who scored 27 goals in 27 appearances in 2015 frequently made the headlines with his fine displays, especially in the second half of 2015. He also leads the list of the Bundesliga’s top scorers with 18 goals in 17 matches.
