Oyo Monarch Dies in Car-truck Collision
An Oyo State traditional ruler, Oba Okunade Adegoke, has reportedly died in an auto-crash involving his car and a truck.
Adegoke, who is the Amunijio of Ijio in the Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state was driving to his kingdom when the tragedy occurred.
According to a source who spoke to Punch News, the monarch was trying to avoid a vehicle when he collided with the truck.
“From what we could piece together at the scene of the accident, it seemed the kabiyesi was trying to avoid a vehicle when he ran into the truck.
“Help did not come immediately and by the time he was found, he had died from his injuries.”
Report says he died a week after he was arraigned at the Okeho Magistrate’s Court for allegations “bordering on threat to live, destruction of family business and using thugs to forcibly take possession of a stretch of land that belonged to another family.”
Oba Adegoke also got accused on destroying a farmland with crops worth a sum of N10 million, Punch News reports.
