Young Africans Can Change their Lives through Online Learning – Omotoyosi Ogunbanwo, Co-Founder Techavilly
Technological advancement has facilitated safe, reliable and sophisticated learning platforms for interactive learning. Invention of 5G technology, fiber optic connectivity and access to the internet has boosted online learning.
Omotoyosi Ogunbanwo an online learning enthusiast and co-founder of Techavilly has urged young Africans to leverage online learning.
According to her, Online learning minimize geo political distance.
“The benefit of widespread access to mobile technology in Africa? Delivery of content and the ability to interact with it. While not a panacea, smartphones offer a way in for those who previously thought they couldn’t have access—because of where they lived, the political situation in their country, or their access to internet. With a smart phone and access to internet, these young Africans can change their lives through online learning”.
Paul Prinsloo, a research professor at the University of South Africa, in an article published in March 2014, emphasizes that open, distance and e-learning has the potential to “contribute to economic growth, erase inter-generational poverty and address societal injustices and inequalities on the African continent.”
On the need for young Africans to take e-learning serious, she said:” E-learning is simply education without walls. Its a way to make lifelong learning for Africans a reality as well as make it available and accessible. With E-learning time or distance is no longer a barrier”.
