Women’s World Cup: Sweden beat holders USA on Penalties to Reach Quarter-finals
Sweden, on Sunday, defeated holders the United States on penalties to reach Quarter Finals in the ongoing Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The game went to extra time after finishing 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes.
The USA had the best chances in normal time in Melbourne, with captain Lindsey Horan hitting the bar in the first half and Swedish goalkeeper Zecira Musovic saving brilliantly from both Horan and Alex Morgan after the break.
Sweden will now play Japan in the quarter-finals in Auckland next Friday.
