Dapo Abiodun’s Whereabouts Unknown, as Supreme Court set to Deliver Judgement on Adebutu’s Petition
The Governor had practically abandoned running affairs of the State and some said he had relocated to Abuja tailing the President about for a soft landing in what is looking like an imminent defeat at the Supreme Court.
Sources also claim that Mr. Abiodun has directed all Commissioners willing to keep their jobs to start scouting for help wherever they can get any in order to influence the outcome of the final legal process.
Activities at the Ogun State Secretariat appear grounded as most of the Commissioners and political appointees have abandoned their desks leaving the job of running the state affairs to the Civil servants. Most government offices visited by our correspondent show the apprehension ongoing in Ogun State, revealing the palpable fears among the political operatives.
A civil servant in the Governor’s office said “we do not know the whereabouts of His Excellency for the past few days, he barely comes to the office these days; he has even technically relocated from his house in Iperu where we sometimes take files to him to treat. It was like he had taken another appointment as the Special Assistant to the President, while several things that needed to be done in the office here suffer.
“Before we used to see Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the SSG filling up the space for Mr. Governor in his usual absence, but lately he too has become scarce and no one is readily available to give us directives about what to do. It is like something is eating them up and they are afraid of the next day as if their days in the office are numbered”
A close watcher of the political development in Ogun State is of the opinion that the Supreme Court is set to look at the election petition in Ogun State properly and to side step the technicalities of the two lower courts especially with regards to the material facts of rigging which the PDP candidate, Adebutu tendered before it. This, it was gathered, might not be unconnected to the uneasy calm in government circles in the state.
