A former Governor of Ogun State and serving Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, has delivered an inspiring Democracy Day message to Nigerians, on Wednesday, May 29, highlighting the nation’s resilience and progress made over the past 25 years.

In his heartfelt address, Senator Daniel acknowledged the trials and tribulations Nigeria has faced, noting that the journey of the country’s democracy has been fraught with uncertainty, fears, and moments of doubt. “At some point, it seemed it would end the next minute,” he reflected, capturing the precarious nature of Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

Despite these challenges, Senator Daniel celebrated the nation’s determination to uphold democratic principles. He emphasized the emergence of a new generation of conscious youth who are actively engaged in governance and passionate about the future of Nigeria. “We have produced a generation of conscious youth interested in how their nation is being governed,” he stated, recognizing the pivotal role young Nigerians play in shaping the country’s democratic landscape.

The senator also paid tribute to the courage and foresight of Nigeria’s forebears, whose sacrifices and vision have paved the way for the current democratic environment. “We salute the courage of our forebears and the dedication of our youth who strongly hold the belief that Nigeria can work,” he said, expressing optimism for the nation’s continued progress.

“We are a nation of resilience and pride; in the last 25 years, we have faced uncertainty, fears and dread about our democracy. At some point, it seems it would end the next minute. But in between, we have emerged more determined to keep this best form of government. We have produced a generation of conscious youth interested in how their nation is being governed. We salute the courage of our forebears and the dedication of our youth who strongly hold the belief that Nigeria can work.
