Otunba Gbenga Daniel Mourns the Passing of Chief (Mrs.) Mercy Owolana, Iyaloja of Ogun State

Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, distinguished senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District and former Governor of Ogun State, has expressed profound grief over the passing of Chief (Mrs.) Mercy Owolana, the Iyaloja general of Ogun State and Iyalode of Ikenne-Remo. In a heartfelt condolence message to the Owolana family, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel paid tribute to the life and legacy of Mama Owolana, hailing her as an ingenious business woman and a cherished community leader.


Speaking further in a statement personally signed by himself, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel described Mama Owolana as a remarkable figure whose entrepreneurial acumen and compassionate nature set her apart. “Mama was an embodiment of a compassionate, loving, and caring mother,” Daniel noted. “She successfully carved a niche for herself with uncommon entrepreneurial skills, which justified her position as a market leader.”


He further emphasized her lasting impact on the women of Remoland and indeed Ogun State generally, where she was known for her generosity, kindness, and philanthropic spirit.

“It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the transition to eternal glory of our Dear Mama, Chief (Mrs) Mercy Owolana, the Iyaloja of Remoland and the Iyalode of Ikenne-Remo.

“Mama was an embodiment of a compassionate, loving and caring mother. She successfully carved a niche for herself with an uncommon entrepreneurial skills which justified her position as a market leader.

“Until her death, Mama Owolana was a symbol of the womenfolk. Her generosity, kindness and philanthropy stood her out in Remoland. No doubt, we would forever miss her leadership and regular guidance.

“I join the entire Owolana family, the good people of Ikenne in particular and Remoland in general to celebrate the exit of an accomplished industrious woman leader.
