Four Gospel Ministers, Including ‘Kekere Jesu’, Die in Ogun State Multi-Vehicle Crash

In a heart-wrenching incident that has plunged the Nigerian gospel community into mourning, four gospel ministers—among them Ayodeji David, popularly known as Kekere Jesu, and his fiancée—lost their lives in a ghastly road accident involving seven vehicles in Ogun State.

The fatal crash occurred around 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Gbara area along the Ikorodu-Sagamu road. The ministers, identified as Iyanu Joseph, Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin, Opeyemi Adesina, and Ayodeji David, were reportedly en route to a ministry assignment when their vehicle collided with a speeding truck.

According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, the tragic incident involved 18 people, claiming 17 lives—including a rescue officer of the FRSC—and leaving only one survivor with injuries. The victims include 11 male adults, five female adults, and one female child.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, in a press statement, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. He stated that the accident was a result of “excessive speed and brake failure.” He also confirmed that the driver responsible will be prosecuted in accordance with Nigerian law.

“The fatal multiple crash, which occurred at exactly 1600HRS, involved seven vehicles: a white DAF truck with registration number T14007LA, a Toyota Hiace bus (AGL752YC), a Honda saloon car (HET680), and a Nissan pick-up van (STF10204),” the statement read.
“Also involved were two Bajaj motorcycles (AGG448Q and PKA214WS) and another white DAF truck without a visible registration number.”

Sam Olu Alo, the founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain International Ministry, expressed his grief via a social media post:

“Unquestionable God! Hmmmmnnn…..This is indeed a rude shock today. But who are we to question God? For His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways.”

The tragic loss of these young gospel ministers, particularly Ayodeji David (Kekere Jesu), a beloved voice in Christian circles, has sent shockwaves through religious communities across the country. Tributes have continued to pour in on social media, highlighting the impact of the late ministers in spreading the gospel through music and evangelism.

The FRSC has once again urged motorists to adhere to road safety rules and avoid speeding to prevent future occurrences of such devastating accidents.
