Ibas Summons Suspended Fubara, Deputy For Official Inquiry

Admiral Ibas has summoned suspended Rivers Governor Fubara and his deputy, demanding explanations and records on appointments made over the past two years.
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has been officially summoned by the Sole Administrator of the state, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, to appear before a panel of inquiry regarding all appointments made during his two-year tenure.
In a formal announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, Governor Fubara and his Deputy, Dr. Ngozi Ordu, are expected to present themselves on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:00am at the Conference Room of the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt
The inquiry will examine records and documents relating to all political and administrative appointments made under the Fubara-led administration. According to the statement, the former governor is expected to bring forward all justifications and procedural documents relating to the appointments made during his time in office.
Furthermore, the session will serve as a platform for the suspended governor to explain why he believes he deserves to be reinstated to office.
“This process forms part of the Sole Administrator’s ongoing efforts to restore transparency, accountability, and lasting peace in the governance of Rivers State,” the announcement noted, emphasizing that attendance is mandatory.
This development adds a new layer to the political climate in the state. Fubara’s suspension came amid growing friction with political stakeholders and perceived power tussles. His removal marked a dramatic shift in the state’s governance, prompting nationwide debate.
This summons comes at a time when discussions about the imposition of an emergency rule in Rivers State have intensified, raising concerns about democratic stability and the future of leadership in the region.
The unfolding situation continues to draw attention as citizens and analysts await the outcome of Friday’s session.
