The controversy generated in Ado-Odo/Ota local government of Ogun State over the mini election held by the All Progressive Congress leaders to choose a Caretaker Chairman as requested for by governor Dapo Abiodun across the local government is getting interesting by the day.

It was reported two days ago that eight leaders of the party met at the Dolpin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos home of the state’s deputy governor, Alhaja Noimot Salako Oyedele where the leaders decided to cast their votes for their preferred candidates. The candidates were Hon Segu Ojolowo Ojuko, Hon Wasiu Lawal and Hon Hon Kamorudeen Aina. The deputy governor reportedly supervised the election which produced Segun Ojolowo Ojuko as the winner with five votes, while Wasiu Lawal and Kamorudeen Aina polled two and one vote respectively.
But in a twist of event, deputy governor Noimot Oyedele Salako unilaterally annulled the election and declared that her candidate who is Wasiu Lawal will be declared the winner. All plea by leaders of the party to let their votes be respected were ignored by the deputy governor who reportedly declared that she could do whatever she wants in the local government. The leaders, as we gathered left the venue in sadness.
However, recent information gathered by us revealed that many top politicians and government official in the governor’s office were piqued by the conduct of the deputy governor and rejected the name of Wasiu Lawal, ostensibly over the injustice meted out to the winner the mini election.
Confused on what next to do, the engineer tuned politician was advised to call the winner of the election, Segun Ojolowo to a meeting and plead with him to accept his fate. We gathered that Segun Ojolowo was called to a meeting yesterday, October 24 2019. In attendance were the deputy governor herself, her preferred candidate, Wasiu Lawal and a former House of Representatives member, Hon Kazeem Salako who is said to be the the elder brother of the deputy governor.
Our source stated that after several plea from the deputy governor and her elder brother to forgo his ambition, Segun Ojolowo reportedly insisted that he stood by his popular mandate and that the APC as a party is founded on justice and fairness, therefore, does not see the reason why he should allow the injustice to prevail, haven worked assiduously for the victory of the party as the local government director general of campaign which earned victory for the party in the local government and consequently the state in general.
As things stands now, we learnt most of the party leaders in the local government are in support of Segun Ojolowo while waiting for the final decision of Governor Dapo Abiodun who is seen as a true democrat
