Chef Escapes with NNPC Managing Director’s $6m in Cash, Jewelry
The Managing Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Abuja, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, has reportedly lost cash and jewellery worth $6 million to her cook.
The man identified as Gabel Segbedji, from Benin Republic reportedly absconded with the loot in his boss’ Toyota Camry on Wednesday, October 26, Sahara Reporters report.
According to the reports, despite the devastating loss, Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue did not report the theft to the police, in the hopes to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to herself as she is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mrs. Nnamdi Ogbue was the Managing Director of Petroleum Products and Marketing Company (PPMC) before being moved to Products Retail in 2015 by then GMD of NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu.
Sahara Reporters report that Segbedji was recommended for employment to Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue by a close friend of hers identified as Toke Benson.
