Edionseri: A Great Woman of All Seasons is Gone – Otunba Gbenga Daniel

It is with a heavy heart and profound sense of loss that I received the shocking news of the passing of a distinguished businesswoman, Chief (Mrs.) Khadijah Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede) on Sunday at the age of 89.

The news of Mrs. Edionseri’s departure came as a rude shock, despite her advanced age. Known fondly as “Cash Madam,” she was truly a woman of all seasons – an astute businesswoman, a loving mother, a community leader, and a pillar of support to many who had the privilege of knowing her closely.

In the annals of Abeokuta’s history, Chief Mrs. Edionseri’s name will be written in gold. Her business acumen was legendary, but it was her warmth, wisdom, and generosity that truly set her apart. She weathered every storm with grace and emerged stronger, showing us what it means to be resilient in the face of challenges.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to her entire family. Your mother lived a life worthy of celebration, and her impact on our community will be felt for generations to come.

As you prepare for her final journey home today, Monday, January 6, 2025, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. May Allah grant her eternal rest in Aljannat Firdaus and give the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

His Excellency, The Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel,
Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy,
Governor of Ogun State (2003-2011)
