Fisticuffs As Giwa And Associates Attempt To Take Over NFF Headquarters

Suspected thugs believed to be loyal to the Chris Giwa-led faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stormed the secretariat in several cars, vowing to take over the leadership of the football body leading to a brawl.

The NFF in a statement claimed that its head spokesman and another of its staff members traded punches with one of the men who forced their way in adding that some members of its staff were pushed around and harassed.

It said that Christian Emeruwa, NFF’s National Security Officer; Tunde Aderibigbe, NFF’s Coordinator on Political Matters; and Ademola Olajire, the Federation’s Head of Communications, were assaulted.

The NFF released a photograph which it claims shows the front door of the building after it was broken by Giwa and his associates to enter the offices on Friday.

Some of Giwa’s supporters who accompanied him were Effiong Johnson, Sani Fema, Rumson Baribote, Ben Agary, Yahaya Adama, Jide Fashikun, Fatai Olayinka, and Abdulazeez Mohammed.

Amaju Pinnick, is the President of the NFF, recognised by FIFA and CAF is being challenged by Giwa, who claims he should be president of the NFF.

SocietyGists recalls that Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Effiong Johnson were all, last month, given five-year bans by the NFF’s Disiciplinary Committee which was also confirmed by CAF.
