Former Ifako/Ijaiye LG Chairman, Toba Oke Is Dead

Special Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, a former chairman of Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government in Lagos State, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has passed away at the age of 65.
Oke was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Friday, February 7, 2025, due to complications from diabetes. Despite efforts to stabilise him, he passed away on Sunday, February 9.
A two-term local government chairman, Oke had battled the disease for several years before his demise. Before venturing into politics, he worked with African Independent Television (AIT) and was once associated with veteran musician, Sir Shina Peters during the ‘Asiko Youth’ era.
Oke is best remembered for his contributions to the development of Ifako/Ijaiye, notably overseeing the construction of the council’s secretariat at Idiagbon Bus Stop, along College Road, Ogba, before handing over to his successor.
News of his passing has left residents in shock, with many mourning the loss of a leader, who played a pivotal role in the community’s growth.
