How FirstNation Airways MD, Kayode Odukoya, Betrayed Dapo Abiodun for Amosun’s Bounty
If there is a bitter pill that Kayode Odukoya, the Managing Director of FirstNation Airways, will have to swallow willingly or otherwise, it is the smooth victory of Dapo Abiodun at the just concluded Ogun State gubernatorial poll.
The reason is not farfetched; Kayode Odukoya, prior to Saturday’s election, had flagrantly exhibited grand treachery and did so with such evil ingenuity that would make Judas Iscariot green with envy. More worsening was the fact that he bared his evil fangs against a friend and benefactor who has had to bail him out and come to his rescue when he was left at the lurch in recent time.
Until his recent display of perfidy, Kayode Odukoya has always been unmistakable about his closeness to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dapo Abiodun. In actual fact, in a manner reminiscent of subservience, he was in the habit of flaunting his association with Dapo Abiodun and dropping Dapo’s name, especially in quarters where he needed doors to open to him.
When according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Odukoya defrauded Skye Bank to the tune of N1.7 billion, and faced prosecution for four-count charge of fraud, perjury, forgery and stealing, Dapo was ubiquitously available and ensured Odukoya was at least set free from detention when he was put in the gaol after he had jumped the administrative bail given to him by the EFCC earlier.
Businesses in comatose, as FirstNation Airways could barely run and Bellview Airlines now foundered, Odukoya had nobody to turn to for survivals except Dapo Abiodun who was always willing to pick up his bills and sorted him to ensure he was in good frame of mind. Then, there came the point of divergence between Dapo and Odukoya when the latter attempted to cajole the former to give him a huge sum of money to revive his airline business.
Odukoya grew impatient with Dapo, who has been spending heavily on his gubernatorial ambition. Odukoya then took a route hardly travelled by a true friend when he reached out to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who has been a ferocious assailant of Dapo since he emerged as the APC governorship candidate.
Odukoya went cap in hands to Amosun to beg him for money to resuscitate his ailing business.
He succeeded in getting a promise of help from Amosun after the governor extracted a vow from him that he would work against Dapo’s interest in the Saturday governorship election.
Odukoya actually went round to undermine his benefactor’s campaign and worked for Amosun’s puppet, Adekunle Akinlade of the APM. He bit the finger that fed him and burnt the bridge to his benefactor.
Now that Ogun people have spoken resoundingly in favour of Dapo as their Governor-Elect; days ahead will reveal if Odukoya would go back to him with his tail between his legs.
