IKORODU UNITED FINED N3.5 MILLION, BARRED FROM ONIKAN STADIUM
The League Management Company has slammed a fine of N3.5 million on Ikorodu United for various allegations leading to the abandonment of their Week 30 encounter against Shooting Stars.
The game against the Oga Boys was called off the unruly behaviour of hosts’ fans who threw objects on the field of play after Ajani Ibrahim’s equalizer for the Ibadan based team.
The Oga boys have been fined N750,000 for failing to provide adequate crowd control measure during and after the Nigeria Professional Football League game and also another N750,000 for failing to restrict unauthorized persons from restricted areas during the game against Oluyole Warriors.
Also, the next three games of the Lagos based team will be played at the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta starting with Matchday 32 against Niger Tornadoes on 21st August. However, the last two home games could be suspended subject to good conduct for remainder of the season.
The board also ruled that the standing score 1-1 will hold and counted as completed fixture while Ikorodu United have until Friday, August 19 to appeal or accept the sanctions imposed on them.
The Lagos team has been hit a hard blow following their recent struggles and strive to avoid relegation.
