Lolo 1 Opens Up About Being Raped By A Colleague Six years Ago

Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has made a courageous revelation about a deeply traumatic experience she endured six years ago. The Nigerian on-air personality opened up on the Say My Piece podcast, revealing that she was raped by a colleague who currently holds a prominent position in the broadcast industry.
In an emotional and powerful segment, Lolo 1 described how the assault has continued to affect her mental and emotional well-being.
“A woman like me, I hardly would say this and I am not ready to tell the story. I have been raped only once in my life and I was raped by our colleague. I see him every other day. Do you know how traumatized I am?” she revealed.
She spoke about the ongoing trauma, admitting that seeing her attacker still triggers momentary panic. Lolo 1 also addressed the complex psychological response many women experience after sexual assault, including denial, self-blame, and fear of being judged.

“When sexual assault happens to women, the first thing that happens is denial — ‘this did not happen’. The next thing is self-crucifixion — ‘I caused it for myself, how did I allow it happen?’” she explained.
Lolo 1 questioned whether people would doubt her for only speaking out now that her alleged attacker has gained prominence in the industry.
“If a woman of my caliber names him… would people not say, ‘how come Lolo did not speak about it for all these six years?’”
Her revelation sheds light on the silent struggles many survivors endure and reignites conversations about accountability in the media space, the stigma around reporting sexual violence, and the need for mental health support for victims.
