No Group has My Consent to Protest Against Akeredolu, Says Aiyedatiwa
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, deputy governor of Ondo, says no group has his consent to protest against Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of the state.
Reports of the said protests followed moves by the Ondo state house of assembly to revisit the impeachment plan against Aiyedatiwa.
The governor and his deputy have been at loggerheads since the former returned from a medical trip abroad.
The state assembly had initially shelved the plan but on Monday, it asked Olusegun Odusola, the chief judge of the state, to constitute a seven-member panel to probe the allegations of “gross misconduct” against Aiyedatiwa.
The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is working with its reconciliation committee to resolve the feud between both men.
In a statement on Tuesday, the deputy governor said he is committed to the reconciliation efforts of the APC.
“My attention has been drawn to some false publications in which it was alleged that a group loyal to me is planning to hold a protest against the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, today in Akure,” he said.
“This is to inform the good and peace loving people of Ondo state that I am not aware of any such protest and no group or association has my endorsement to carry out public demonstration of any kind.
“I affirm my commitment to the ongoing reconciliation efforts of the national leadership of our party, the APC, on the political situation in our state which are already yielding the much needed tranquility in the state.”
The deputy governor urged security agencies in the state to continue to maintain law and order.
