His Excellency, The Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng, has attended the inaugural meeting of the Senate Committee on National Identity Card and National Population Commission.

As the Vice Chairman of this vital committee, Senator Daniel’s presence on Wednesday marked a crucial moment in addressing issues related to national identity and population data.

The committee’s inaugural meeting, held in the capital city of Abuja, was a forum where members discussed key objectives, priorities, and strategies for overseeing the National Identity Card and National Population Commission’s activities.

The meeting focused on a range of topics, including data security, population trends, and the enhancement of the national identity card system.

While commending the efforts of the committee chairman in reaching out to all the agencies and stakeholders connected with the committee, Otunba Daniel revealed the pivotal role the committee will play in the progress of the country.

“The problem we have in this country is a problem of data and a lot of people believe that if we can get our data right, a lot of problems would be solved. “When you look at the experiences of other nations, you will find out that in this day and age, biggest weapon is the weapon of identification of data; either for the purpose of tax collection or for the purpose of security monitoring.

“Every single human being must have his data captured,” he said. The Senate Committee on National Identity Card and National Population Commission plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the country’s identity and population data are well-managed and secured.
