Oniru Throne: Abisogun Ruling House Members Fight Dirty Over Succession!
Barely 40 days after the demise of the late Oniru of Iru-land in Lagos Island, Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru, internal fight has erupted between the families jostling for the throne.
One of the ruling houses of Iru-land, the Abisogun ruling house of Iru-land is presently in discord and a tussle has broken out for the throne of Iru-land with several candidates showing interest and claiming entitlement to the throne.
Findings revealed that some elements within the Ruling House have started laying claim to the Oniru’s throne as the rightful individual to become the next King while throwing dirt on the others.
Some of the individuals/clan at the forefront jostling to become the next traditional ruler of Iru are, Wasiu Ogunbambi, Jamiu Adelakun, Saliu Abisogun, Hakeem Ajasa, Fagbayi Clan and Giwa Otto Clan.
Our sources revealed that if the government does not find a solution to the sudden and early kingship tussle, there may be a breakdown of law and order.
Under the late Oba Oniru’s reign, he was a pillar that brought economic prosperity and peace to his domain.
Iru land, the host of the highbrow Oniru and Victoria Island, became a mega location with investments and buildings worth hundreds of billions of naira in recent times.
It would be recalled that the late Oba Oniru also succeeded his father in 1995, following a compromise and a legal battle by other ruling houses.
He was born on 6 September 1937, the 12th of the 15 children of the long-reigning Oba Yesufu Oniru, who died at the age 120 in 1984.
The departed Oba attended St David’s Primary School and Araromi Baptist School on Lagos Island and then went to Eko Boys High School for his secondary education.
In 1965, he left Nigeria to study civil engineering at the British Institute of Engineering Technology in Slough. He returned to Nigeria in 1968, to join his father run the family business.
