Otunba Gbenga Daniel Pays Tribute to Alhaji Sule Onabiyi, Reflects on 2003 Governorship Elections

Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng., senator representing Ogun East and former governor of Ogun State, in a heartfelt tribute, recalled the 2003 governorship elections, a time that brimmed with events and intense activities.

It was an era characterized by the presence of numerous political heavyweights, including Alhaji Sule Onabiyi, affectionately known by his title “Baba Adini.”

As the dark cloud casts its shadow over the last of the Musketeers, Senator Daniel fondly remembers the leadership offered by Alhaji Onabiyi and other remarkable figures during those years.

His passing brings profound sorrow to OGD, his family, and his associates. In this trying moment, Senator Daniel extends his heartfelt condolences and prays for the peaceful repose of Alhaji Sule Onabiyi’s soul.

May he find eternal rest with his Maker, and may his legacy live on.

He wrote: “My 2003 governorship elections and the campaign build-ups towards that were as eventful as they were full of activities; it was an era that many rightly agreed was signposted with many political gladiators like Alhaji Sule Onabiyi, the man we popularly called by his title “Baba Adini” more often than not with his real names.

As the dark cloud eclipses the last of the Musketeers, I can only remember with fond memories the leadership provided by Alhaji Onabiyi and others in those years. My family and I will miss him with great pain as I pray for his repose to find eternal rest with his Maker.

My heart goes out to the family and associates that he left.”
