Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa Begins New Rotary Year with Inspiring Initiatives

The Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa commenced its 2024-2025 year with a dynamic first meeting on Friday, 12th July 2024.

The ceremony was highlighted by Assistant Governor Bukola officially passing the robe of office to the new President, Rotarian Henry Akwara. President Akwara, described as irresistible, began his tenure by introducing the new Board of Directors to the members, guests, and friends of Rotary present at the event.

Earlier in the day, President Akwara, accompanied by the club’s Vice President and board members, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olukunmi Olusesan Akingbola Ikudoro, the Oba of Oregun.

The Oba praised the visit and encouraged the Rotary team to focus on supporting the education of young people in the community.

He emphasised the importance of practical and technical training for children, noting that inadequate education due to poor governance and insufficient investment is a major obstacle to community and national development.

His Royal Majesty, having experienced Western education and a career as a practising doctor and lecturer, understands the crucial role of education.

He expressed his willingness to offer his support and guidance to the Rotary Club’s initiatives. The Oba highlighted that education should be a priority for the younger generation, who are the future leaders.

President Akwara promised to embark on projects aimed at empowering and equipping the youth and young children in the community.

The interactive session concluded with an agreement to conduct a needs assessment in local schools to identify specific areas requiring attention.

The day’s activities culminated in a warm fellowship and handover ceremony, featuring auction sales and a video reel showcasing the club’s projects.

The attendees enjoyed a time of wining and dining together, marking the beginning of a promising Rotary year filled with impactful initiatives.

With a strong commitment to community service and youth empowerment, the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa is poised to making significant contributions under the leadership of President Henry Akwara.
