Sen. Daniel’s Sponsored Southwest Development Commission Bill Passes First Reading
In continuation of his strategic moves toward promoting the interest of the Yoruba tribe, a bill sponsored by the former governor and current member representing Ogun East at the national assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has passed first reading at the senate.
Southwest Development Commission bill seeks to establish a commission charged with the responsibility of receiving and managing funds from the federal government among other things. It would also address infrastructural and ecological challenges in the region.
It is believed that the establishment of this commission would guarantee funds for the development of the South-west region as a whole. Already, Nigeria has development commissions for the Niger Delta and the North-East. The South-west zone consists of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states.
