Sex for Marks Scandal: Sacked OAU Lecturer denied Bail, accused of involvement in Child Pornography
The trial of Richard Akindele, a former lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who was sacked after demanding sex to pass a student, has taken a new turn.
Akindele, who was charged to court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has been denied bail by the court.
Punch reports that the prosecuting counsel, Kehinde Ayantoye submitted a counter-affidavit opposing the bail application of the accused, accusing him of being involved in child pornography.
Akindele had refused to report to the ICPC office, Ayantoye revealed, after he was granted administrative bail to travel to the US to attend to his health.
Ayantoye also revealed that the accused, who is a pastor, was caught on tape chanting incantations to derail the case.
The case has been adjourned until December 17, and the judge has asked that the tape be presented before the court.
