His decision to throw his hat in the ring as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) flag bearer is causing serious ripples among the major political parties in Ifako-Ijaiye because the enterprising young man is known to be grassroots politician and man of the people.

A serial entrepreneur with great business acumen and excellent managerial skills, Timi’s work experience spans many years in various sectors and he has a track record of successfully creating and running several small businesses to profitability. He currently sits on the board of several reputable Nigerian companies operating in diverse sectors such as information technology, oil and gas, food processing and printing & packaging.

His journey into politics started during his undergraduate years in Lagos State University when, as a student union activist, he was the honourable member representing his department at the Student Parliamentary Council (SPC), which is the legislative arm of the Student Union Government where he successfully led several agitations on behalf of his constituency.

Much later in life, he joined the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) which later metamorphosed into All Progressive Congress (APC). However, he left the party due to some irreconcilable ideological differences and joined Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM). He later emerged as the chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Ifako-Ijaiye LGA after the CNM adopted ADC as a political platform.

As party chairman, he went on to give the party a strong footing in Ifako-Ijaiye by building a formidable party structure based on the party’s ideals of socio-economic and political inclusion which has helped him garner a considerable followership for himself and the party.

Since he clinched the House of Representatives ticket of African Democratic Congress (ADC), he has gradually warmed his way into the heart of the people and his mounting acceptance by the public has positioned him as a serious contender in the race.

Timi says he is in this race to bring a more vibrant and development-focused representation to Ifako-Ijaiye which will prioritize the issues of education, improved healthcare delivery, job creation through economic regeneration, developmental projects, and empowerment for women and youth.

Although his party is not as entrenched as the other two competitors; PDP and APC, Timi Olorunsaye says he firmly believes his message of hope will inspire the people of Ifako-Ijaiye to give him their mandate so he is not treating his candidacy with levity and is therefore determined to win.

His campaign team; Timi Olorunsaye Campaign Organisation (TOCO) is working assiduously, day and night to propagate their message of a “Greater Ifako-Ijaiye” to ensure TMO, as he is fondly called achieves this aim in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
