Tinubu Receives Fasoranti, Oba Falae, Osoba, Daniel, Mimiko, other Afenifere Leaders, Promises Economic Prosperity
President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering comprehensive economic security and addressing fundamental challenges to establish a fair and equitable system for all Nigerians. These remarks were made during a meeting with leaders of Afenifere, a respected Yoruba socio-cultural organization, at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
In his address, President Tinubu emphasized the imperative of securing Nigeria’s economic stability as a prerequisite for achieving broader national objectives. He outlined key strategies aimed at re-engineering Nigeria’s finances, enhancing citizens’ purchasing power, and fostering widespread prosperity through innovative economic policies.
“We are dedicated to ensuring the economic viability of our nation. To achieve this, we must initiate robust measures promptly. We will revitalize economic opportunities and continue to take deliberate steps towards progress,” President Tinubu stated.
Highlighting the pivotal role of education in poverty alleviation and youth empowerment, the President underscored ongoing efforts to invest in the future generation through initiatives like the National Student Loan Programme.
Additionally, he addressed the pressing issue of unemployment by proposing social security measures and introducing the Consumer Credit Scheme to bolster citizens’ purchasing ability and curb fraudulent practices.
President Tinubu also addressed national security concerns, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to preserving Nigeria’s sovereignty and constitutional democracy. He assured that decisive actions were being taken to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, with notable successes achieved in degrading terrorist activities and enhancing intelligence operations.
“We are resolute in our determination to safeguard Nigeria’s unity and democracy. Security is paramount for development, and we are making significant strides in combating threats to our nation,” President Tinubu affirmed.
Expressing gratitude to the delegation for their support, President Tinubu reiterated his dedication to advancing Nigeria’s interests and fostering unity amidst diversity.
Yoruba leaders present at the meeting included Chief Reuben Fasoranti, HRM Olu Falae, Chief Femi Aluko, Chief Korede Duyile, Prince Adebusayo Alonge, HRM Oba Francis Olugbon, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Chief Lekan Alabi, Arch Bishop Ladigbolu, Senator Gbenga Daniel and Chief Olusegun Osoba.
Others were Chief Olusegun Mimiko, Dr. S.A. Ibikunle, HRm Obaro of Kabba, Chief Dare Babarinsa, Mr. Olayiwola Popoola, Capt. Adekunle Raji, Abagun Kole Omololu, Gen. Muyiwa Okunowo, Basorun Damola Folarin, Rt Hon Dr. Akin Onigbinde, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, Mr. Biola Adeyemi, Mr. Seye Oyetade, and Ms. Blessing Akinlosotu.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olu Falae, commended the President for his bold leadership and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge. He emphasized the importance of fairness, equity, and constitutional reforms to empower states and promote national cohesion.
“We appreciate your efforts in nation-building and pledge our unwavering support. Our relationship is crucial for Nigeria’s progress, and we are committed to making it mutually beneficial,” Oba Olu Falae remarked.
